Basically, what is the genetic reason for their facial features, skin type and lack of body hair. An evolutionary perspective would be interesting to hear.

ummm...well obviously this evolved for a reason.

possibly, there was in the past some danger to having body hair, and so they evolved without it.

skin type...well, it all really having to do with the climate.

Look, this is why asking why black people are black and white people are white.

The area where they lived happened to make them evolve in a certain way, then they all had babies with there modified genes and so the people in these areas didnt have any new genetic material to work with so they all ended up pretty much the same without any outside genetic influences.

note, this is all my deranged theory...

My assumption (with no scientific back up) is that it was a gradual change due to the region they lived in. The height thing is pretty much agreed upon by anthropologist that it varies from different groups due to weather (ie. in Africa is is much hotter so it distributes heat better when you're taller where as natives of Alaska are always in cold weather so it makes sense for them to be shorter to conserve heat).

As for the Asian eye thing, I'd assume that it has to do with spending a lot of time in the sun. Many east Asians are fishermen who must squint over the reflecting rays on the water. (Again, these are total guesses.)

The hair thing is kind of interesting. I've wondered about it a lot (and am grateful since I'm half Asian and am pretty hairless) but haven't come up with a real reason for it. When I think of hairy people though, I think of Vikings and people from that region of the world who had to endure varied harsh weather. Maybe? Really, I have no clue.

Just my two cents.

Yea I have always wondered how their eyes got like that.

The skin is a bit fair but still has a tint. The lack of body hair lol. Its there its just not thick.

Just wondering for east & south east asians. Can you guys see the same as us even though you guys have squinty eyes?

not all asians are like that. i know im not! i do have the small eye thing, but my other friend who is asian has huge eyes. there is prolly a large percentage of asians who fit the asian stereotype, but theres still a large number of those who dont. the asian race is just like any other, with a greatly verying array of features. : )
