I agree to some degree. Where we have some weirdos who want to blow up abortion clinics and kill or torure someone for being gay. This all is not from true Christians who true may seem strange and paculiar to unbelievers. As we are afraid of things we don't understand. But I jokingly say I am high on Jesus as a term used by those whom brag on being high on drugs. Its just we replaced those things that once bound and hurt us and those around us with something that is more satisfying and everlasting. With no side effects or hangovers. There is a great difference between someone high on religion and high on Jesus but only those who can, will know the difference. I hate the fact they are those out there who do give Christian an unpositive outlook. Hopefully this will change more the closer it get when Jesus come. LITTLE DEBBIE

Good question, I would say that religion is a kind of philosophy, in the sense of a human asking him-herself: "who am I and my family/community? why do I (and the others) do the things we do? why are we here?" and a million other questions. A religion (whether Islam, Judaism, Christianity, or whichever religion) appears to answer that question, usually in the form of a text (see Bible, Koran, Torah, etc.). In that way, a human follows the text and gets the answer, and is therefore highly satisfied (who wouldn´t be satisfied knowing the whole meaning of life?) and then goes on to get high in a spiritual/intellectual sense. I would say that discovery of knowledge makes you extremely happy (often associated with "high") - personally, I can remember as a kid when I first worked out and understood how chess worked, and felt a kind of euphoria on solving this strange puzzle. I would say that religious people go through a similar experience (on a different level of course).

There are many paths to the same goal. For some, it's christianity. When you find a path to enlightenment that works for you, you want to tell the world. I think it is a very fullfilling experience. The difference between christianity and other religions is that christians proselytize, where most religions believe the choice is up to the believer and aren't in the "recruiting business."

When I discovered taoism, I felt much the same way. The difference is that if you don't care to follow taoism, well, that's fine with me. Everyone must find their own path.

But there are some "lows", too. Ever been spit on? Had garbage thrown at you? Helped a heroin addict kick in a seedy hotel room that smells of urine and vomit? Called "SATAN" by a homeless person that disrupted your Mass?

i do happen to notice how some people's tone of voice changes when they are talking about their religion as if they feel a sense of pride when it comes to their religion

Yes.

It is the effect of being filled with God's spirit.

oohhh memememememe that's me. I can talk about God all day long, it's the only thing I like. Considering all I do is Seek all day long, or Pray if U like.

That is as it should be. Anyone who is getting anything out of their spiritual life becomes "high" when dwelling in the spirit.

High? Well, if that's how you percieve excitement, joy, and enthousiasm... you need to practice reading body language!

Blessings! :)
