Western art shows Jesus look like a young white man, with brown hair and eyes, long hair, etc.

Do you think Jesus looked different than he does in paintings? Do you think he was darker, or maybe had dark brown hair, or blue eyes, etc.?

Here is an example of how many paintings portray Jesus:

Well since the people who portrayed Jesus in these paintings didn't see Him, there is no way they could know what He looked like.

Since Joseph was a carpenter, Jesus would have looked like a carpenter's son.

He probably had rough hands and a strong build.

He wasn't passive and meek.

He most likely had a "Mediterranean" look, since that was where He was from!

I think it is funny that there are so many pictures of Jesus, and even the disciples never talked about what he looked like, every Christian in the world portrays a different picture of him in their own minds, and when all is said we still do not know what Jesus looked like, we simply know he was a Jew.

There is no way Jesus was light-brown hair and faired skin. If he existed he would look like any other person from the Middle East.

Yes I do know He looked differently. This is why God doesnt want us to have pictures of heavenly things, as we get fixated on what we think, and not hear what God says. Bible says Jesus was of bronze skin, and wooly hair, meaning He was black, a black Jew. No, I am not black. I am white, but I know what God says in scripture. But, I also know if we care what color He is, we wont be in heaven. Color does not matter to God. He says we are all created equal. and we are. Skin color, and sex doesnt make a difference to God, we are all equal. What matters to God is that we believe in Jesus, follow Him and live for Him and speak to others about Him, and lead them to Him too.
If we care what color Jesus is, it means we dont see all as the same, and that makes God very upset. Cuz, it means we dont believe what He tells us. Just read the Bible and Bible only, and you will find the answer to everyone of your questions.Seek and ye shall find..... I pray you will do just that.

That picture could be of a Jewis man.

As you may note, many Jewis people are as fair as pasty "white" men. Having said that, who knows what he really looked like. Jewish people cover the spectrum. All that matters is what you believe and if picturing Him as looking a certain way brings you closer to Him, then all power to you.

Art critics have described the most popular painting of Jesus as looking like "a woman with a beard".

Of course he did. In paintings, he looks like a hottie usually.

He looked nothing like the pictures. He was plain and comely according to the bible.

What they paint is a marketing tool. Nothing more, nothing less.
