Recently, I've been farting too much. (Of course I go to the bathroom every time), but it's getting annoying because it's too often. Like every hour or so. Sometimes more. And I'm not eating beans or anything.

I HAVE been eating lot of Mandarins/Oranges. But i didn't think that causes gas.
Does it?
Is there a certain diet I should follow or a supplement I could take?

Oh, and please don't tell me to ask my doctor. I'd rather hear useful responses before I ask my doctor. thanks!

There are many over the counter gas relief remedies. Beano tends to work only if caused by beans. Gas-X is good but could have side effects. My advice is to sleep on your side and if that doesn't work -use a mild laxative which will clean out whatever is irritating your bowels and give you a fresh start. PS Are you sure it's the fruit and not lactose which is causing this? Some people develop lactose intolerance which suddenly brings about flatulence.

Ironically, I just watched a special about this on Oprah. There are many things that cause gas. Meats many times will cause gas (ex: eggs, beef, etc) as well as the obvious foods (beans). As corny as this may sound, I recommend going out and either checking this book out from your library or buying it. It's called "The Gas We Pass." Farting is not something to be embarassed about. It's natural and it makes you human. However, I do have a little bit of advice for you that won't be contained in "The Gas We Pass." It may be the oranges that are giving you gas. Your body naturally has bacteria in it. The bacteria break down the food that goes into your intestines and in doing so, release their by-product wich happens to be gas. Certain food stimulate these bacteria to create more gas. Some of these foods include any kind of sweet, fatty foods, meats, eggs and some vegetables. Cutting down on these foods will reduce your gas.

Good Luck!!

Be careful of anything with a sugar substitute, like protein bars, sugar free candy, etc. Some light foods like yogurt, chips (yup), and condiments have sugar substitutes in them. I would closely look at what you are eating. Any more meat lately? if so, take a protein digestant (inexpensive, u can get at a GNC or vitamin shoppe). Dairy might also be the culprit, some people develop allergies or intolerance later in life, so check that out too. If you adjust your diet, and still it occurs, I wouldn't run to the doctor, but I would try taking a digestive enzyme anyways just to see if it stops it. if it does, eureeka, you found the issue. Now do you get diarhea at all, or pain? that could be a sign of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or something else digestively. Try those simple fixes, and see what comes out!! :)

Gas-X & Beano work nicely. Also, sometimes my momma will rub my tummy with lotion, and it really helps alot. I eat TONS of fruit & it seem to me like the fruits make me really gassy, so the mandarin oranges could be your problem.

It may sound strange, but sleeping on your stomach gets rid of a lot of gas. When I do this at night, the following day is very pleasant.

Take Beano or Lactaid. Try cutting things out of your diet one thing at a time. Start with dairy. That was what did it to me. But don't forget to look for alternate sources of vitamins/minerals etc that you cut out.

Beno works great. Take it before a meal, or whatever you eat.
