if he's good enough to qualify then GOD bless him. he was the slowest in testing today though, so the odds are long.

My only thing with this is that if he does make it into the Daytona 500 that something may happen to him. And if something does happen to him then this will all be on Nascar's hands and Nascar has enough problems to deal with this season.

I say let him say "Gentlemen Start Your Engines" and drive the pace car but don't put him in the actual race.

I mean...how many of those drivers are gonna actually let that guy beat them?

Everyone knows that he is a long-shot to even qualify for the race, but even with the odds against him, I feel that every man, woman, and child should follow their dreams no matter what people say. Personally, I feel that if he is physically and mentally capable of trying then let him try. I hope that he surprises the world and gets to race!

The fact that he was NASCAR Rookie Of the Year in 1966 and he has had some good races. He has not been out of racing he drove most of the ARCA race in 2006.
This seems to be a farewell race for him.He just faded out of NASCAR with no retirement run and this may be it.
Go James Go.

Let him qualify, so what? The chances of him making the race are very, very slim anyway, even if he was half his age. He'll really be qualifying against about 20 much better funded teams for, basically, one of less than 7 available spots. Hopefully, he forgoes the duels, so he'll have to attempt to qualify on time, where he's the only car on the track and less of a danger to others.

Hey if he can qualify the car let him run. While it may be true that finishing last will provide a bigger pay day than he had through out his entire career it would be great for him to finnally have a pay day that he could retire on.

I hope if he does Qualify That he can at least finsh the race.

Well if he qualifies I guess you have to let the guy race. My only concern is that the Daytona 500 takes so much focus, as does the rest of the races on the circut. But we are not dealing with the baby soft, newly paved Talladega... I give him a snowball's chance in hell of making it to the end if he even qualifies and gets into the race.

The "ORIGINAL" #48! No he's not just some 'old man', 601 NASCAR Cup races, 2 Cup wins, and 4 Cup poles. Regardless how he does, I'll cheer for him.

I hope he makes it!!!! It does not matter what age you are always follow your dreams!!! If you lose your dreams what do you have? Who cares if he comes in last at least he will be in the race! If he does not qualify he can say at least he tried! That is more than a lot of people can say!!! I wish him the best of luck!!!

little question, kyle's the (youthful) guy of nascar spectacular now. no you may nonetheless touch his record so some distance this year around the three considerable sequence. not purely in wins, yet in appropriate-fives, appropriate-tens, laps led, potential scores, and so on. or maybe inspite of the incontrovertible fact that he had purely one win final year, he did have 11 appropriate-fives (to junior's 7), 20 appropriate-tens (to junior's 12), and complete 5th in factors prevalent (to junior's, ummm, sixteenth) - it fairly is the place his skills exchange into, Texas. and, oh yeah, Wedge_Antilles, "oops, just about forgot, humorous how..." kyle (and carl) have each gained greater races this year on my own than junior has in 3 and a 0.5 years (he's purely gained two times considering that november, 2004). and that i don't say that as a "junior-basher" as i actually like and root for the guy. i like that they the two have 7 appropriate-tens this year and are just about consistently contending for the win - ought to make for a large assessment prevalent, now that they are the two in "optimal kit." and finally, i've got been making a track the praises of "peckerhead" (loosely translated, i've got self belief, as "king kyle") considering that in the previous he first hit the cup circuit, and you in no way heard me cry approximately johnson and gordon final year. precisely to whom you're referring i'm uncertain... --kyle's #a million fan "it ain't conceitedness in case you get carry of the skills to returned it up"
