Animal shelters have a wide variety to choose from. Many of which are chihuahuas. Go to http://www.petfinder.com/ to find them in your area.

The best place to find a chihuahua puppy cheap is thru a rescue. There are hundreds of rescues across the United States that specialize in pure and mixed breeds. Usually you can get a puppy thru these places for about half to a quarter of the price a breeder or pet store would charge. Not only that but you're helping a homeless animal find a forever home.
Have you thought about getting an adult though instead? Not only are they easier to find but cheaper. Yeah puppies are cute but they grow up. And think of it this way, you skip the chewing, accidents and all the training of the puppy year.
Also make sure before you buy a chihuahua that you are ready to make that sort of commitment. This breed can live up to twenty years and are not a good family dog. They tend to be a one person dog and can be aggressive towards children. These dogs although small need a ton of attention and care. Make sure you're ready for that and not getting one because it's hollywood's new trend.
The AKC has a fantastic web site that you can visit to see the breed's charactristics and make sure you are the right forever home for these fantastic dogs.

Good luck!

ok, first off.... any puppy that you would find that was "cheap" probably isn't purebred and comes from a backyard breeder that doesn't know anything and wont even bother investing the time or energy to get purebred registered dogs.... second of all, do you realize how much a puppy costs? even a perfectly healthy one? I bought my chihuahua puppy for $625, but with the cost of all of her shots, her spay (which any responsiable owner does, fixes their animal to ensure their health.), her microchip, her registeration transfer, the proper food, it has cost me well over $1000 just in her first year. Until you are sure that you will be able to afford to care for a fragile puppy, don't get one. Chihuahua puppies have to be treated like new born babies. they have a soft spot, which may or may not fully close, are so small that they have a hard time regulating their body temprature, and can go into hypoglycimic shock real easy if they are not fed on a very regular schedule..... do you want to take care of a brand new baby? if you're not ready to commit yourself, and you are looking for a CHEAP pet, don't get a dog or anyother animal for that fact... as you are too immature to care for another living being.

Call or google a rescue for Chihuahuas nearest you. They will be given to good homes after a thorough screening (of you, not the dog).

PS The guy above is right about the costs, and a credit check would be required by a rescue. And, little breed dogs somehow require more medical attention than large dogs. I don't know why it just works out that way.

Animals aren't cheap entertainment and need help when they are sick, more so than when we are sick.

Why not settle for a bird or some fish until you are settled enough and financially stable enough for a dog.

Nothing is cheap, especially Chihuahuas. Puppies are very expensive and lot of responsibility. If you can't afford the full price of a Chihuahua, maybe you should wait until you can.

Go to a shelter and get yourself a dog. If you're still convinced that cheap will still result in a good pet, just get an adult as you prolly aren't responsible enough to do the housebreaking. The shelter dog will be "fixed" as well as have all their shots and such, and getting a puppy will prolly not have those same perks.

To be honest, if you can't afford to pay full price you are probably can't afford to take it to the vet for proper care. Initial puppy vet costs can be upwards of 800 bucks and that assumes nothing is wrong with the dog. A cut rate pooch could have problems and not have any guarantees from the seller.

Get them where God invented them...visit Chihuahua, Mexico. The ones from there are not the little toys you might want...they're the natural ones...quite hearty, and I heard in packs they can be dangerous. Of course, you may have to pay when you come back...because our country has rules about those kinds of things.

My brother runs a Chihuahua rescue in TN. You might get on line and type in Chihuahua rescue for your state. Mmm
