Big corporate businesses with billions of dollars causing it spanning just about every industry. News media outlets are owned by people in suits who probably play golf with people in industries that are contributing to the problem.
The bigger problem is what would it take to convince people? A movie? that didnt work.. The largest hurricane on record? Nope... How about a chart showing we're about 1000 times hotter than has EVER been recorded on earth..? nope.. how about the possibility of the global ocean currents changing to stop bringing warm water to europe sending them back into the ice age? Nope.. a post on Yahoo answers? we'll see

2 things to consider:
1) There has been a LOT of media attention given to global warming.
2) The "cause and effect" relationship between man and the earth is HIGHLY uncertain. While many (perhaps most) scientists believe that human civilization has resulted in some warming of the climate, there is no definitive way to separate the impact of man from other causes that may cause the earth to warm. It is hard to imagine that man caused the last ice age, so why isn't it possible that some long term climatological shift caused by geological or astronomical forces is causing recent average temperature increases?
At any rate, I don't think there is a conspiracy out there to keep man from understanding his/her impact on the earth. In fact, if anything I would consider it more likely that there is a conspiracy to convince man that he is far more important in his impact on the cosmos than is really the case. I am not saying we shouldn't be concerned about our impact, just that I don't think there is a widespread effort to cover it up. (Of course, my answer may seem like part of that very conspiracy you hypothesized).

While global warming is happening, it is a very long-term trend. Any particular bit of wierd weather cannot be attributed to global warming; the Earth is big and there is unusal weather happening somewhere just about every day.
Consider that the rate of global warming is around 0.02C/year, whereas the standard deviation from year-to-year in the average global temperature is around 0.1C. So it takes decades for the effect of global warming to become apparent against the noise of year-to-year variations. This is not to say that it's not happening (it is), but that it is statistically impossible to attribute any particular feature of the weather to global warming.

global warming is not THAT extreme, most of the "wierd" weather is due to the El Nino that started this year, nothing is happening that hasn't happened during any other El Nino cycle and as far as global warming there is no conclusive evidence that proves that the warming we are experiencing is a cause of greenhouse gases and not simply a result of the earths normal warming/cooling cycles.

People get too freaked about the "so called" global warming. Warming trends come and go. Volcanoes have spued out more crud over the years than people burning fossil fuels, etc. have.

I have no doubt that society's industrial activities contribute to climate change. But we've had "weird" weather for years. Check the websites that have archives. We've had awful Hurricane seasons, floods, etc...
Mother Nature dishes out pain and pleasure, and everyone gets a turn in the barrel!

Bad girl, I think you have prolly strayed into the wrong section here. If you are Australian, please take the next left at the corner you will find it leads you back to polls and surveys, which is obviously much more fun. Other than that try the Gender and Womens' studies section, everything they post is hilarious. Have fun.

Thank You, Madam! It's good to see, SOMEONE, has their eyes wide open. Global Warming is just a scam. To get people to turn to the Gub'ment, for all of their needs. But you saw through all of the smoke and mirrors. Maybe you should consider running for an Elected Office. Just a thought!

Because it isn't being caused by global warming. It's El Nino (I don't know how to make that little tilda over the n!)
