No, there is no such thing as waterproof paint. You use oil-based paint in high humidity areas, which is, essentially, waterproof, if that's the word you wanted to use, although that is not a "real" word when it comes to paint. You can paint the walls around a bathtub with oil-based paint, but if this bathtub doubles as a shower, it needs to have tile or a laminate sheeting around the three wall areas within the shower area.

Why do people answer questions if they don't know what they're talking about? There are only two kinds of wall paint. Latex, water washable, and oil-based, which needs turpentine for cleanup. Eggshell is a COLOR of paint, not one of these two types of paint. Satin is a finish style of paint and there in no such thing as "silk" paint.

Water Resistant Paint

in the UK:

generally "water proof" paint is water resistant, and not water proof.

You will need a specialised polymer paint. Not the sort of thing they sell in DIY shops.

you can get it from specialist paint shops, you might need to sit down when they tell you how much it costs.

I do think it will get more popular but the price needs to devide by 10. What could be simpler that painting a shower enclosure.

I do find it funny when people answer a question on here crticising othere for getting stuff wrong, and then proceed to make statemetns that simply incorrect. Funny eh ?

Emulsion paint, vinyl silk has PVA glue in it, so it is water resistant. Bathroom and kitchen paint has a mould inhibitor, and is also textured so it looks less shiny, but no paint will actually make the walls waterproof, unless you further treat them with acrylic varnish. the more water resistant th are, the colder the room will feel however - and the extra coats will show up imperfections in the walls.

To get mirror smooth walls prepare the dry plaster with Gesso, and smooth it to a mirror flatness with flour paper first.

Not sure what you mean re a plaster water!

I believe satin and silk are waterproof paints, usually it says on the tin for bathrooms etc.

Perhaps you could rephrase the question if you are seeking an alternative answer.

I know the perfect solution if you are just starting with woodworking and also if you have already experience with it. I reccomend to give a look to this website ( woodworkingplans.kyma.info ) You can find a lot of woodworking plans and you will be able to manage the projects with a CAD/DWG software. It allows you to modify the projects and to alter the arragements. If you are a beginner this is the easiest way to start, it's the best approach to woodworking; and if you already have experience you will find a lot of ideas and inspirations to improve your abilities with woodwork. I'm sure that you will love it!

Hello,
Yes there are all kinds and colors available at your local stores like Lowes, Menards or other home type centers.
If you really want to get "wild', a marine, boating center may have colors that are not found for home use.

Hope this helps,
Dave

You can certainly buy 'eggshell' paint, which is water-resistant. We've used it in our bathroom and kitchen to enable us to wipe down the walls.
