So i'm trying to cut back on my spending and that includes the stuff I buy for my hair. I've been a Pantene girl for a while. I wanted to know if Suave shampoo works good. Does it make your hair feel clean and does it give you body? I kind of have long hair, so this is an important question to me. Please let me know what you think of Suave. Let me know if it's time to say good by to the over priced Pantene...

Suave really isn't that bad, but it certainly isn't as good as Pantene. If you shop at Wal-mart they have a generic Pantene that has the same ingredients but is a couple bucks cheaper. The bottles even look the same. The brand is Equate, and it's not runny like suave is.

I've been a Pantene gal for years but before Pantene, I always used Suave. It's very economical, cleans the hair well, & smells great. They have a Suave shampoo out now that has a built-in conditioner & it works great. Maybe you can try it sometime. A great place to buy it is at a Dollar General store, if you have one in your area. Wal * Mart sells it too but you pay more than you do at DG.

I buy Matrix and I highly doubt that Suave can compare. Although expensive, Matrix works great. But as for most of the Suave line, as long as you don't need some extra-special shampoo, it does just as well. All shampoo is pretty much just a cleaner. It is conditioner that varies so much. I've always been pleased with Suave products.

Right now I'm using a Suave 2-1 for dry/damaged hair (less than $2 in Target). It's Pro-Vitamin formula, comes in a white bottle with a light gray cap and has some green writing. I have very thin dry hair to begin with and this works ok. Not great, but good enough to the point where my hair is clean, and smells good. It does not matter what brand of shampoo you use. I have used various different kinds my whole life, salon and store bought and all of them left a film on my hair. So what I usually do once a week is I wash my hair with Tressemme Deep Cleansing, With Vitamin C, and it works pretty good at getting out any buildup. This is also not very expensive. A 42oz bottle can cost you less than $5 in some stores and it lasts a while. Also smells good.

As for it not weighing your hair down...it does a good job, for me at least. I don't have voluminous hair but it's more than what I started with. You can always try a little sample of it, Walmart has a travel size section, they may have this with the shampoos. That way if you decide it's not for you, it won't be a huge loss.

Suave is a good shampoo. In fact I prefer it to pantene, pantene is very drying. I personally use Garnier Fructis, but I have used Suave and I do like them.

Like one other person said, compare the ingredients, suave has a shampoo that is comparable to pantene.

i hated when i used suave. it seemed like it was all water with a little bit of soap in it. i've used pantene for years and i would never give it up. especially for suave. thermasilk is good- but i think that's in the same price range as pantene

I have been using suave for years. It is pretty good. Look at the labels. Shampoo is mostly detergent and they are all the same: The most common ingredient in shampoos is also the most common detergent in use in other products, a class of surfactants known as straight-chain alkyl benzene sulfonates. An example is Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, or its sodium relative, or the slightly larger related molecule ammonium lauryl ether sulfate, sometimes abbreviated as ammonium laureth sulfate.
Check it out if you don't believe me. If you must, go to Walgreen's they have a "clone" of Pantene. It is pretty good too.

Suave is not that bad. I HAVE to buy it as there are 6 of us here and we use a full bottle every week and a full bottle of conditioner too. But, I have used Pantene. It left my hair much softer to the touch. I loved it. But, alas, I cannot afford it.

Well, I wouldn't recommend it, it made my scalp really dry and my hair wasn't shiny, I've tried all kinds of shampoos, cheap and expensive, and the only one that has worked for me is pantene, (I have long, fine hair), so stick with it!!
