yes, you can. but it's strange why you wanna bring cakes or brownies unless you are going to visit poor areas of China. Many western food are available in developed area.

just wondering why u need bring a cake in the first place, china is not desert , and u can buy anything here , but if u really really want to carry that cake, u can just put it into ur bag, nobody gonna check it.

The people of China are not uncivilized. They can buy brownies and cakes from bakeries of course.

I hope you're not stuffing drugs into the brownies and cake.

you can, but just not the fresh fruit or meat. honestly, i personally won't recomment you to carry it along. there is a cake shop in China, and it is so cheap anyway, why bring it there when you can get a fresh one.

i would call the airport and ask, they are really, really picky about what you bring with you now. i do know that you can't bring a can or a bottle of soda with you unless you purchase it after going through security, a simple call should help with this answer.
