You're boyfriend expects a valentine gift? That's weird. It's bad enough that we have to buy the ladies something just because it's 14 Feb, but I don't think a guy in his right mind would expect a girl to buy him anything for this "bogus" holiday.

If you know of any hobbies he has or favorite shows or sports teams you can get him something that matches.
You can get him clothing you think he will look good in. It will be special because it's from you.
Guys like gadgets and tools, but those aren't as personal as you probably want for your boyfriend. He might enjoy a game, but you won't want to get him something that's going to make him spend more time with it than with you.
If you are also 18 you might dress in something that would be a present for him.

First of all...dont buy him anything that his mother would..ex. socks, underwear...not that you would but it happens.
try something like this:
-cologne..what does he usually wear..usually when you are in the perfume and cologne department, you can find out from a salesperson what the guy would prob like if he normally wore for ex . Calvin Klein..then she could suggest scents that are similar, but just different enough. Find one that you really like then its like a treat for both of you.
-something cool thats engraved..when i was that age, the gift i gave that was a favorite was an engraved zippo with just his name..nothing else like i love you..(cuz then hed be too embarressed to show it off)
-if you are short on cash...make him a booklet of naughty coupons..ex. 1 Free night of anything you want me to do in the bedroom... Tried that too..and went over well.
-concert tickets
-game tickets
Hope these ideas help you..It can be really hard to find something for a guy for valentines day that isnt to girlish and cheesy. Like teddy bears and chocolates.

Guys like teddy bears too! They just put up a big front. Every guys I know has at least one little bear or stuffed animal that means something to them...At walmart, they have these little heart with candy, this year i even saw a manly one! you should go check it out...
