3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.
A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5. ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF. THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29. WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

It's 9 times 3 equals 27, plus the 3 dollars they got back. Not 27 plus the two-dollar tip, since the tip is included in the money they paid.

The error is in the way the question is asked. The $2 should be subtracted from the $27 not added to it. It's the $3 that the bellboy split among the 3 customers that should be added to the $27 to arive at the $30 originally paid. The $27 minus the $2 the bellboy kept equals the $25 going into motel's till. Double entry accounting would easily eliminate this confusion.

The problem is that counting backwards it appears that there is a dollar missing but there really isnt.
The men paid a total of $30 were refunded $5 so thats a total of $25. The bellboy gave each guy back a dollar, then took the remaining two for himself. Thats $25 + 1+1+1 = $28 add the two dollars the bellboy pocketed and you have $30.
Each guy actually contributed $9.333 if you divide the $28 by the three guys.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH>>>>>
plus why the HELL are 3 dudes going into a hotel room? Cant they do their business at home? Kinky mothers.

The room was $27 - $25 that the man at the desk retained, and the $2 that the bellboy stole. Each man paid $9.

The room was $25, the men received $3 and the boy kept $2. 25 + 3 + 2 = 30.

There is no missing dollar because each man pay roughly 8.33 each if they shared a room that is 25 dollars so 25 plus the three dollars the three man payed which equals 28 plus 2 the bellboy had which is 30 dollars

Of the $30 originally put into the till, look at where each dollar ends up. $25 stays in the till, $2 goes to the bellboy, and $3 to the customers ($1 each)
A more accurate way to phrase it would be "Each man has paid $9 to stay for the night (3 * $9 = $27). The bellboy has pocketed $2 and $27 - $2 = $25 which is what's left in the motel coffers."

$30 / 3 men = $10 each
($10 - $1 = $9) X 3
$9 X 3 men = $27 total
$27 - $2 tip= $25 (Cost of room)

You miss added. It is a total of $28 without what the bellboy pulled out. So as a total its $30
If you do the multiplication thing then each man actually paid $9.66. Not just a solid $9
