ALL of the adopted children I know have pro-choice parents. That doesn't mean that all adoptive parents are pro-choice, but many are.

My parents are fiercely pro-choice because they are proud Americans who prefer freedom over restrictions.

I'm not old enough to adopt, but I support several charities including Médecins Sans Frontières and World Vision.

Your parents are proud of an industry that has killed over 945,000,000 worldwide ?I'm sorry, but I find that truly repulsive.
And good point,Meg Michaels.

I am pro-life and have adopted a child eleven years ago. Fostered five, no funds from government needed here. A proud single parent who will continue to do it. I know many pro-lifers doing the said thing.

What does that have to do with anything? All that should matter is that there are people out there waiting in lines to adopt, some for years. And, with regard to those who have adopted being pro-choice, I guess it just depends on who you've been around. I know many people who have adopted, including family, and all of them are pro-life. We should respect all people, regardless of belief, because that is their choice.

a child up for adoption has about a 3 year window. after that nobody wants them. everyone wants the cute little infant. nobody wants an angry 4 year old. or anything older for that matter.

for thoes that say that there is a waiting list in their state, please tell me what state that is, so that i can do my own research into your claims.

the simple fact is that there are many more unwanted children than there are willing homes to accept them.

besides, if your god is so all powerful. and he knows everything, then he knew from the start that these lives simply would not be.

and by your own beliefs mere mortals are not capable fo changing god's plan. so then a mortal doctor may be his plan for stopping these 100,000 some odd thousand births every day.

this world can not handle the population that it has now...and before you try any of your "it is the ungodly that made it this way"
your god is the one that said be fruitful and multiply.

I am pro-choice.... I would never dictate what someone else should do... Indeed, religious conservatives try to dictate the rules by which others should live their lives and yet once born, they seem to care very little for the lives they've mandated be born... This leaves the child with a small chance for a happy life.

But my own personal feelings on the issue is that small chance at a happy life is better than no chance for life at all.

Dear Abby (or Ann Landers, I forget which one) brought this up once. She stated that anyone who is pro-Life and refuses to adopt an unwanted child is a hypocrite. I agree with her. Anyone who states cannot take the financial responsiblity, finds it inconvienent, etc. still fits this: they certainly have no problem pushing all of this on the mother, or the child for that matter.

it's not convenient, there's too long a wait, i'm not old enough...

there are only a few who actually do something

to the judgemental anti-choicers:
pro-choice is not pro-death. i AM for life, but people have the choice, and they should.

HOW DARE YOU judge people for making such a hard choice. you know NOTHING about the person's circumstances when they choose to end a pregnancy. it must be so nice to sit up on your f'n high horse and look down at your noses at people who aren't so fortunate as you. you probably even moan about having to help pay welfare, "not wanting to take care of someone else's mistake." well i hope one day you make a MISTAKE and you have no one to help and no choices you can make.

I haven't been able to adopt any, and it breaks my heart. I have disabilities, and am unable to provide children the care they require. If for some reason I was unable to hide Jews in my attic, would that preclude me from opposing the Holocaust?

I do sponsor a child through Children International, and donate to other children's charities.

so your implying that for someone to be truly pro-life they should adopt? Maybe people who are pro-choice and get pregnant and don't want to be should make better "choices" and put their unwanted children up for adoption. I don't know what kind of point your trying to make with your question.
