I know this guy who is like 14 or 15 years old, and one day we were showing off muscles. My muscles are good for my age b/c I do a lot of pushups, but his were crazy. He had a lot of veins popping out and they were really cut. He claimed he doesnt do any pushups or lift any weights, but he runs a whole lot. Is he lying?

His body fat content must be below 10%. I bet he has the six pack as well.

This is what you get with SUFFICIENT cardio and good genetics.

I believe him.

Something you need to know about veins and a "6 pack". EVERYONE has them. That means everyone--from thin to fat to morbidly obese--everyone has veins and everyone has a 6 pack. Obviously, veins are blood delivery systems and you would be dead without them. A 6 pack is nothing more than abdominal muscles that everyone also has (it supports the internal organs such as the stomach and intestines, etc). The trick here is, when you say they are "popping", is that one must have very low bodyfat for them to show. Fat people don't show their abs or veins because they have a large layer of fat over them. Your average joe might have a 2 pack showing. You see people doing stomach crunches repeatedly with no results because they aren't LOSING WEIGHT, which has to happen for the abs to show. Same with veins.

My suggestion for you is to simply drop 10 pounds. You will be popping as much as your friend. You can build muscle but if you build it underneath a layer of fat it really doesn't matter insomuch as visually seeing them is concerned.

He may not be lying. Some lucky people are blessed with good genes. That is one of the factors that people have to remember about exercise plans. Everybody is different, some exercises affect some people differently than others. I wouldn't worry about him, just do what works for you and what makes you happy.

Does he unload semi trailers in his spare time by hand? That might account for his muscles. If not, he works out.
