UTI's can become kidney infections, and the bacteria can easily spread from your kidneys to your bloodstream, turning a small infection into a system-wide one.

An antibiotic called Cipro. I know this because my son is a paraplegic and is plagued with numerous UTIs. Cipro seems to work the best.
