My mom had brain surgery to remove 2 aneurysms. She now is physically disabled and can not work. Her health is so poor she will probably never work again. Her health insurance company she had with her old job just dropped her and I found a company named Cobra that will accept her for now but they want almost 1,000 now and then over 400 a month. No one in our family can afford this sort of payment and she has to have health insurance. She is 62 years old. Would she qualify for medicare? What would you do in my situation? I am so worried thanks..

Yep, I'm almost positive she would qualify for medicare. Disability should be able to provide her with a list of resources!

She will probably qualify for Medicaid or Medicare. The procedures
may take a long while before she gets approved though as there
is a lot of paperwork. In the meantime I would sign up for
the my Simple Card to get services immediately with no
paperwork especially because her health is so poor right now.
Good luck!

You have to apply for medicaid for her ! If she doesn't have a home in her name or alot of assets she may qualify ! This is for poor people only so keep that in mind . You can contact a social worker where she had her brain surgery and they will help you with this sort of stuff !

I live in canada so we don't have to pay for health insurance. Everything is covered by the government. I watch these canadian medical shows all of the time where people from the states who don't have insurance come to canada for the health care. They don't move here they just come to get better and go home. Maybe you could consider it.

If she is unemployed, then she will probably qualify for MediCare or MediCal at least. Find out quickly! go to the Social Services office nearest you, and they will tell you all you need to know.

That relies upon. in case your dad's coverage is new (after 9/23/10) and in case your dad's corporation did not receive a waiver from the present administration then you definitely can stay to inform the tale your dad's coverage till age 26 inspite of if married. besides the undeniable fact that, you'd be needing to get off and connect your husband's coverage even as he enters the service.

You need to find a lawyer to fight for her. She is eligible for disability payments.
