Hey Dude,

Depends what your criteria is.

I have been using Vista since its beta, non-public. At first I thought it was all eye candy, but then I have come to see some of the things that are behind it.

While there is A LOT of eye candy, there are some cool enhancements to security and productivity. I think, overall, this will be a Windows 2000 to Windows XP kinda upgrade. Not as dramatic as the Windows NT to Windows 2000 upgrade and definitely not as terrible as the Windows ME monster!

The BIGGEST thing is that this is a 64 bit OS. This means faster more powerful programs are able to run.

I expect it is going to be a 3 year transition, with the early adopters coming online this year.

I don't expect to see the flock of migrations, unless some cool software, like maybe Office 2007, starts to force everybodies hand.

Tom

I would say that Windows Vista is a worthy upgrade if you're getting a new computer. One you have it installed, you can do a lot of things; more if you have the hardware to run Aero. There are some new games, redesigned Control Panel, redesigned Windows Explorer, redesigned Start menu. Get my point? There are a lot of things redesigned! The editions can be puzzling. I say that you should either get Home Premium or Ultimate for a home setting.
