If your doctor told you they thought it was because you're lazy, it's time to find a different doctor. Any reputable doctor these days will know that bedwetting is a medical (or RARELY, psychological) condition that is in any case outside your conscious control.

I don't think you can get hooked on Tofranil, as it is in the anti-depressant family of drugs, and as far as I know these don't really have addictive properties. Plus, I think the dosage used for bed-wetting is smaller than the dose that was used for anti-depressant therapy.

Tofranil does work, although it will only work on the night you take it -- it will not make the underlying problem go away. One solution, if you're worried about long-term side effects, could be to keep some tofranil around and not to take it every night, but to take some on "special" occasions, like when you will be sleeping away from home or having someone over and don't want them to find out. It's not a perfect solution, obviously (anyone you're dating will probably find out eventually, unless you find some other medical solution), but it will give you time to get to know them and have them accept you for who you are, and once that happens it is much less likely that they would reject you for something as insignificant as bed-wetting.

As far as the medical advice, I'd suggest getting a referral to a urologist -- and don't take "you're lazy" for an answer! Bedwetting at your age is a lot more common than you might think, and there are doctors out there who have seen it before and can give some good advice. An alarm treatment and/or some bladder muscle exercises might be good choices for you in addition to medication, but a urologist would be the best person to explain these and determine which is right for you.

I think you should go see a Urologist, your bladder appears over active. They will probably give you excerises to do(Kegal )and discuss if it is sudden urges that can't be controlled, or is it more during sleep that you become incontinant. I would try and take the Tofranil again, I don't think addiction is a problem in this case. Also, when you do feel that you need to go.........don't hold it in, get up and use the restroom. Oftentimes, people that have held it for long periods of time. their bladder "shelf" becomes weakened and control is lessened. I can understand your stress about dating and going in public, one thing that helps is knowing where the restrooms are at in the area you will be. It helps knowing because then you are in control, not the bladder. You can make a few stops if needed and won't be embarrassed by leakage. You are young, please ask your parent to take you to a Urologist. Good luck.

No, the final analysis is that your spouse offered a canine, in all probability on impulse, without the two of you understanding lots approximately canine or preparation. The canine is what you have allowed it to alter into. that's not a monster, that's the made of its atmosphere and absence of powerful preparation. Why get a canine if neither of you have time for it? It does not take lots attempt to stand up a million/2 an hour till now interior the morning and walk the canine earlier you leave for paintings. Likewise a walk interior the night is not any enormous deal for many canine proprietors, particularly as there are 2 human beings sharing the care of the canine. attempting a variety of of different preparation ideas will confuse the canine (and the owner). elect one approach of coaching and carry on with it. in case you have no journey in preparation a canine a direction of obedience preparation instructions may be so as. unfavorable chewing isn't purely a symptom of separation tension. it is likewise a symptom of boredom simply by loss of workout and preparation. Did you think approximately taking this canine to an afternoon care facility? I propose this because of the fact i don't think a canine might desire to be crated for longer than 4 hours so crate preparation is out while you're away all day. i think of this canine may be extra advantageous off being rehomed yet while that's as badly behaved as you describe that's purely not consumer-friendly to discover people who're searching for a canine who has no manners and is unfavorable. i wish you stumble on a loving homestead for this canine yet please don't be tempted to get yet another canine.

You could have an overactive bladder, Or even Interstitial Cystitis here is a good site to find out about IC

www.ichelp.org

They have many treatments

If the drug was working, how come you stopped? with this don't worry about getting hooked, Its better to be able to hold your pee in better, than it is to have to change your underwear every night, and sometimes during the day.

I hope this helps.

note. I am 19 and have bladder problems all my life, and recently dignosed with IC. I kinda know the boat your in.

Stopping your tofranil when it was working was pretty dumb. One cannot get "hooked" on that medication, and even if one could, so what? It WORKS, duh! Yes, there is an alternative solution: surgical intervention. You may need that in the future, but for now, go tell your doctor what a dummy you've been and ask to be put back on tofranil.

See a urologist. And if they recommend a medication, for pity sake take it. You don't just stop a prescribed medication because you are afraid of "getting hooked", if you need it you take it. Otherwise, you've wasted the doctor's time and your money.

I highly recommend an acupuncturist and someone trainined in eastern medicine. Your problem is not uncommon, and for the dr. to say you are just lazy... he should be horse-whipped. that is like saying someone with a club foot limps because he wants attention.
