You don't. You'll have been hydrating yourself all day. Even if it was filled with sugar, you wouldn't need more water.

Also, Splenda breaks down into components that are found in all other foods. Splenda is as likely as anything else to cause cancer. And water doesn't really wash it away...

Also, if you're generally eating properly, you don't actually need to DRINK 8 glasses of water a day....

You get plenty of water in your food. The 8 cup recommendation is actually a mis-statement/oversight of the original recommendation which is a certain amount of water per calorie of food. It's a ratio. Given proper food intake, it comes out to about 8 cups of water a day, most of which is included in the food.

'"1ml per kcal energy expenditure for adults living under average conditions of energy expenditure and environmental exposure" - thus a person eating 2900kcal would require 2900ml of water.(v)
. . .
"An ordinary standard for diverse persons is 1 milliliter for each calorie of food. Most of this quantity is contained in prepared foods." Valtin proposed that the last sentence may not have been heeded, and the recommendation was therefore erroneously interpreted as eight glasses of water to be drunk each day.' You can survive on tea alone...and soda alone, and coffee alone...because the main ingredient in all of these is water. However, it is not safe to do so, because your body will consume the extra calories from the soda, the caffeine from the coffee, and so on. Just like your car needs an oil and filter change, so does your body. I would consume water along with tea if you positively need something other than water. But water, by, of, and in itself, should be the #1 source of fluid supplementation for your body. Good luck, and watch the splenda, all sugar substitues are evil to their own accord!

Yes, tea is a diuretic. Drink some water, you don't have to sweeten it to make it palatable.

If you're having constipation issues, stop drinking tea.

I can no longer drink tea for that reason...there's nothing more pathetic than a southern woman who can not drink iced tea!

Yes you do still need to drink water. Like caffeine containing coffee and soda, tea is a diuretic meaning that it basically dries out your body even though you are ingesting liquids. It makes your urinary tract work overtime. Also, tea will yellow your teeth. Water won't :)

If you don't like water because of its lack of taste, I would suggest getting the packets of Crystal Light that you add to water, or even buying lightly flavored bottled water (make sure to reuse or recycle the bottles!), or put a slice of lemon in your water.

Yes. Water is the purest thing to drink, even though it doesn't taste like much. It cleans out the waste in your body. However, if it is not pure water, it won't be as helpful. So, try to drink at least three cups a day, even you are also drinking lots of other liquids.
