No, it wouldn't be better. We'd find something else to squabble about.

I don't think there is anything wrong with searching for the truth, and I believe we must never give up that search.
The problem is the fighting over what is perceived as the truth. If everyone could simply bask in their perception without having to convince the rest of the world, it would be a better place to live.

In a way, I think it would be better. But, religion is interesting, and I enjoy mature debates (which is hard to find around this place). There would still be fighting, because not everyone can agree on one thing, so I doubt it would make that much of a difference.

Newsflash China and the former Soviet Union tried this and ended up killing 43 million people. Imagine that John Lennon. I never get tired informing those who didn't realize this with my warn out phrase.

trouble is only the good
peacefilled dreamers do that
thats how evil got con-trol ,
all we need is love ,so thats all we did ,meanwhile evil went to work unheeded 24/7
yes if we ALL lived for the moment we would have peace but also hunger because no one planted for tomorrow ,
no one believes in the jingles the right used to put the left to sleep
anymore but the dreamers dreaming on while our rights and peace gets shattered
when peace works all evil does is kill it
when war is destroying all we got is love thy neighbour ,
and thats all you gotta do /all they want us to do.
all we can do.,it is[nt?] hard to do and no religion too.

No. Life lived for the moment ultimately becomes shallow. You have to live for the future as well.

Everyone would be in a state of depression without knowing their purpose in life.

Nope. You'd have a bunch of people milling around saying, "what's the point?"
I forgot who said it, but they said "The tragedy is not having never reached your goals, it's never having any goals to reach for in the first place."
