If it's flat TV (plasma, LCD) this usually cost by the panel, need to replace the panel and it's not cheap. If this other type of TV something wrong with the image processor inside.

Our old TV did the same thing, especially all of the sudden developing a reddish tint to everything. We took it to a local TV repair shop and had the tube inside replaced. Cost was about $75, so you'll have to decide whether it is worth putting that much money into it or just looking for a new TV. We decided to keep ours at the time, and the tube did make it last for at least another two years, after which it finally went kaput (it was a used TV when we got it). Good luck to you!

Its about to go. You could repair it or get a new one but seriously its probley the best time to upgrade to HDTV. If you go with small get lcd if you go with a large get plasma. I'm sure you could pick up a good enough one at a garage sale. If you can't afford one.
We had a tv that did that and it was the saoder joints on the circuit board. It keep doing it every month after it was repaired so we junked it.

alot of tv's used the red gun (regular tv's have 3 colors red/green/blue) to set the levels of the green/blue signlas - if the red gun goes or the electronicsd driving it - the green/blue will be out of control.
Eventually your set will fail completely - not sure how old or if repairing.
new tv's are inexpensive compared to the cost of repair - either upgrade to lcd/plasme or check out great deals on crt tv's still out there

the same thing happened to mine last week , it started out with a red tint and then a bright narrow line running from one side to another, that lasted for 1 day and then it gave up, it is going to die on you, get your interact out ....sorry for the bad news, it is cheaper to buy a new one than to fix it... happy t.v. hunting....

It sounds like some of your light tubes are just burnt out or something. It's probably time for a new one.
