First person: I looked around the train station to see if anyone was watching me. I'm cautious after what the newspaper said about the guy. The only woman to survive his attacks described him as charming. I look around again. Anyone charming in the train station today?

Second person: You look around the train station to see if anyone is watching you. You're cautious after what the newspaper said about the guy. The only woman to survive his attacks described him as charming. You look around again. Anyone charming in the train station today?

Third person: Melinda looked around the train station to see if anyone was watching her. She was cautious after what the newspaper said about the guy. The only woman to survive his attacks described him as charming. Melinda looked around again. Anyone charming in the train station today?

Writing in third person means that you are writing ABOUT someone/something else's experiences.

Example: He didn't want to go to school.
If this were first person, it would be: I didn't want to go to school.
Second person: You didn't want to go to school.

Third person has two break downs:

Third person omniscient - this means that the reader knows what many (or all) characters are doing, thinking, and feeling.

Example: Jane felt sick from the alcohol and wanted to go home. Ginger was enjoying the rush, and was hoping to finally get with Abram.

In that example, we know how BOTH Jane and Ginger feel.

Third person limited is when you know how only one character is thinking and feeling.

Example: Jane felt sick from the alcohol and wanted to go home. She didn't think Ginger would want to leave.

In this case, we still know how Jane feels, but we don't know Ginger's true feelings. The view of Ginger is given through Jane's thoughts and judgments about Ginger.

In second person, the story uses "you". The "you" is the reader. Second person puts the reader into the story

Example: You walked outside and looked up. You thought you saw a spaceship, so you set up your telescope to get a better look.

Another way to look at it is first person would be from your point of view, or in a story if a character is also the narrator generally that is done in first person. Third person is like a general narrator. Although the first answer you got is a very excellent way of describing it so I'm not sure if this will help at all. PS you almost never see anything written in second person

First person includes you, second person is the person you are speaking directly to, and third person is a person you are speaking about.

First person singular = I
First person plural = we
Second person singular and plural = you
Third person singular = he, she, it
Third person plural = they
