They are in a half bath, that needs some tlc, any ideas? Is there some kind of special paint for these fixtures, or do you just replace them?

It's probably easier & cheaper to replace them, but I know you can refinish porcelain tubs, so did a web search and found this site that sells a do-it-yourself product for refinishing porcelain fixtures. Refinishing inside the toilet bowl seems like it would be difficult: http://www.refinishingonline.com/diy.htm

Found another site, the do say " Painting bathtubs, toilets and appliances is best let to a professional" but check out their site http://www.alsnetbiz.com/homeimprovement/faq3.html

Toilets & sinks at home depot start at about $100.

It's possible to paint over a ceramic surface but it requires great skill by a professional. The only ceramic I would recommend painting yourself would be tile because anything you paint cannot have direct contact with moisture or it will be ruined (ie. the inside of the toilet bowl and the inside of the sink). It would be cheaper just to purchase new items.

But if you want to take a chance before you purchase new items use high gloss oil paint, this sticks well to glazed surfaces.

You can't "paint" bathroom fixtures with regular house paint. There are professionals who can repair the porcelain finish on bathroom fixtures and, although I've never heard of them completely re-doing a fixture, I suppose they could, although it would almost assuredly cost more than buying a new one. Just get a new one and call it good. If you don't want to pay for a new one, you could try those second hand stores that sell ones that people have pulled out like you're wanting to do. They might even give you a deal if you exchange yours for theirs.

They can be painted. There is a product on the market called Klenks Epoxy that is made for painting the items you mention. I doubt however that it will hold up in the toilet bowl and like any paint it is subject to chipping. The best long term solution is to replace them. The epoxy will be a temporary measure. If you only need a short term solution it will work for a couple of years.

Do not repaint them they peel and bubble and look worse then the ugly blue color. Change them to a clean white. There are many very inexpensive brands that are really a very good quality. Most company now manufacture in China and have really dropped there prices. Good Luck

Don't paint toilets and sinks. It won't last. Replace them if you want different. It's not that much money.

best wall color to tie all the other colors together would be a very pale grey, lighter than the floor tiles. for accessories, towels, etc. you could use either dark forest green or mid to dark grey.
