You can start with a memory, a quote or your name... just make sure that it fits the mood of your speech. It all depends on how you prof wants the speech to go.

For example: If you are talking about being the youngest child in your family you might start with how fun it was to get away with something then introduce your name or whatever

I always found that for any speech a story was a good start--the ending of the story made a good conclusion for the speech too. So tell a story about yourself that relates to your audience. Are they high schoolers? Use a high school story. Your employers? A story from your first employment experience.

I used to be on my high school speech team and even got to compete at the state competition.

i would start with something like:
Hi my name is ... , whats yours?
or something like that.
