A friend of ours had a BBQ 2 weeks ago & it turns out her kids had chicken pox. Luckily we didn't go, but some other friends of ours did and their children were exposed to it. Now, last weekend my husband vistied those friends and was playing with their kids for about an hour before they even mentioned the chicken pox exposure. What are the chances that my husband could have brought it home to our 17mth old daughter, and what are some signs to look for?

He could very easily be a carrier of them and pass them on to your daughter. Watch for small blisters to form - she may get very fussy just since they may begin to itch. If this happens, do the following:

Get some Aveeno Bath Oatmeal soak. Use it twice a day.
After you dry her off, put any type of diaper rash product on that contains zinc oxide. Any dr. will laugh about this, but it really works! I did it with my daughter and they only lasted for 3 days and she didn't scratch one of them!

If you stop and think about it - chicken pox is basically just like a diaper rash on the body.

Hopefully you won't have to use this, but if you do, it should be gone in just a few days and hopefully she'll be a happy baby!

This has a typical two week cycle from exposure to symptoms. It is often onset by mild to medium flu-like symptoms. Then the pox appear with the itching.
