It used to happen to me when I wake up. I asked this question once before, and it has something to do with teeth grinding or something, and you need a mouthguard (for when you sleep).

That's exactly what it is, clenching. You wake up and feel like every tooth in your mouth is loose and ready to fall out or be pulled. Not to mention the pain in the jaw area, soreness with tightness. I've been a clencher for years. Clencher don't have the wear patterns on the teeth that grinders do, but they have typically the same pain. A night guard alleviates the morning pain associated with the clenching, it gives your teeth a cushion to bite into keeping the teeth from touching each other. Talk to your dentist about having a night guard made, you'll see a difference the first night, I promise, I did. You aren't the only one who has the problem, but there are things you can do to help. Hope I've been of some help to you. Good luck!
