that long flowing hair is concidered beautiful and just more appealing. Music videos, tabloids and other forms of media seem to push for the long tresses as if it's the only thing that's sexy, or will help "sell". their products. this has been passed on from generation to generation for years. A lot of African American women see it as an "enhancement" in their beauty forgetting the fact that they are beautiful naturally and they don't have to conform to what they think society wants, after all we do make up part of that society.

Society can be tricky at times, a natural African American can be viewed as ethnic, smart or simply natural. However she can also be seen as lazy for not taking care of her hair better. The weave ins look nice they are typically seen as in style, well kept and beautiful on the other hand they can also be seen as fake, high maintenance and insecure. I guess in the end its what makes you feel good about yourself!

That it should be shaved off and fed to the almighty magical duck, Filbert. I'm not sure what your asking but think a trends tend to lean toward long, blond, and straight hair as "Perfect"...which I personally don't think is very interesting.
