You need adequate nutrition to heal that leg. That should be your primary concern at this point. Eat lots of non-fat yogurt for the calcium, eat lean meats for the protien. Worry about weight loss AFTER that leg is healed up.

I broke my leg several years ago and your right you do gain a little weight, you need to firstly keep to a strict diet, do not pig out on the naughty stuff that you are eating for comfort food. You can do some simple exercises like laying on the floor on your back and lifting your leg (the non broken one) up and keeping it there and then slowly drop it back down to the floor using your pelvic muscles and tummy muscles to keep it steady.

You should also be walking on your crutches regularly as this will help keep your weight down.

I agree. Leave that leg to heal.

Just make sure that for the 6 weeks or so where you will be inactive, you don't go and comfort eat.

I mean, I have a client who currently comes to the gym with his plastercast and still does upper body weights, but that's a little obsessive... LOL

my girlfriend lost weight with a broken leg.
count calories, keep them a little less than
for an inactive person of your age. Then, get
up on your crutches and move around. Mall,
to movies, etc. You burn some good calories while
moving on them... a lot of work.

The best thing to do right now is just really watch what you eat, but you could do something things like crunches or you can do anything that works the upper body that allows you to sit.
