The BMI is the score gained from dividing the person's weight (in kg) by the square of their height (in meters).

BMI = wt / ht^2

For those using the pounds and feet measurement, it's much easier to use a BMI calculator or use the conversion

BMI = 702 X wt / ht^2 wt in pounds and ht in inches

703 x your weight divided by height in inches squared. A healthy BMI is between 22-25.

the BMI is a very inaccurate method used to determine a persons level of health. by not taking body composition into account the results are meaningless.

you want to go by body fat not the BMI...
