What pad should I buy when I get new carpeting?

The best you can afford. Padding makes all the difference. You can get away with a cheaper carpet if you have good padding underneath it.

Ditto to what CctbOh says above! Buy the best padding, it will give your carpet a much longer life span. Remember, the carpet company is interested in selling you carpet. If they can get you to buy great carpet, but cheap padding, you'll be buying new carpet in 1/2 the time....no matter what kind of warranty you might think you have.
