There are churches for atheists here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, ironically enough. Or at least there's one. It's called the Church of Free-Thinkers. It meets weekly on Sundays, just like Christian churches do. Look that up in your area and see if there is one.
Or you could think about taking some classes at a local university or volunteering at a local charity; in either case, you'll meet people and probably actually learn something, too.

Some cities do have groups for atheists. I wouldn't call them churches, since atheists would have no interest in going to church.
Try googling the name of your city and atheist, and see what comes up.
The church thing would be fine too, since it's always cool to know people of all backgrounds, but you might feel out of place there.

I make friends at work, in my neighborhood, and lots of other places. I don't need to be a member of a congregation to have a social life. There are no churches for atheists, of course, because atheists do not believe in god(s).

There is a bar right down the street. Or there are groups of atheists that meet-but I agree that is rather boring. Unitarian Churches might be OK since they think it is OK not to believe in god.
Just get a hobby, and don't sweat it.

but you are wrong. look for an Unitarian Universalist Church. i belong to one, and always have, since i was, i think, four. its a church where everyone is different, even in religion, and some pray, some dont. some have a religion, some dont, some are christian, some are not.
they always have sermons, but they are more like lectures on different religions, and everyone is SO friendly. i have always felt like they are my second family to me. you will definatly feel welcome. at the particular church where i belong, we have visitors and first timers to our church have coffee hour with us after service, but use a special blue mug, so that everyone knows you dont know anyone. everyone will love to meet to new people. i suggest you try it. its helped me through alot to have friends at the Unitarian church, and im atheist, so give it a shot, you will make a bunch of friends.
BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!

No, but you should go to church to hear and learn God's word. and to realize there is a much higher power watching over you. You might be surprised to know that others care for you and want to help you in anyway they can.

Guess you will have to go to a church where they teach about God.
Some of them are not only friendly, but loving.
It's worth a try. Shop around.

The concluding clause states a universe of truth. Churches will welcome you for whatever reason. But don't expect to stay long. The word ekklesia in Greek means "sent or called out." You may be sure they will want you to join them in leaving the building and going out into the playground of (God's) world.
Parentheses added for your comfort.

do you have the impression that a church is the only place you can go to make any friends? are you serious??
go to a pub. join a bowling league or a hiking club or a volunteer/community service organization. find people who think for themselves and who are intelligent. cult buildings are far from the ONLY place to find friends....
