Your preference matters.

Plasma has great contrast and blacks, but can lose pixels.
LCD is good but can lag a bit on heavy motion.
DLP is another option, but can have rainbow artifacts and some noise.
D-ILA is JVC's interpretation of an LCD technology called LCOS, or Liquid Crystal on Silicon. It has good qualities for brightness and contrast and good motion, while having minimal problems.

The common ones are plasma and LCD. Never heard of D-ila. PLasma has superior color quiality, though it uses a load of energy, creates heat, and is more than 2x heavier that LCD. LCD is very light, but its color is pale-er than a plasma. It uses less electrivity though. LCDs are nearly just as good now though, I recommend one. Emprex, Westinghouse, and especially Vizio have nice ones. Sony and Sharp are OK.

The highest HD resolution available right now is 1080p. Whether it looks better on a plasma, lcd, dlp, etc. is up to you. Judge with your own eyes and compare picture quality when you shop around.

Best is what looks best to you and fits your criteria. All of the ones you mention are good but for each there are compromises. If there were only one best then no one would be selling the others - right?

It's like asking which is the best car - no car can meet the needs of everyone.
