Do you believe that people really can use this information about meeting their partners to permanently better their relationship, or is it a temporary fix?

Just started reading it with my husband. I think it will help. We got sidetracked with the holidays and all, but I hope we will start working at finding time to sit down and read it through.
I've heard great things from people who have read it and applied it to their marriage.

Yes! This method for understanding you and your partner's needs has been a very valuable way for my wife and I to understand each other better. Both must be able to identify their own love languages, but I would encourage using it. We read it years ago and still refer to the basics for understanding needs.
It does not solve problems, but it helps understand each other.
One dilemma I discovered, however, is that you might have opposing love languages and end up learning that you aren't good at fulfilling your partner's language needs.
That takes a lot of work -- but at least you'll know.

I have “read” the book, ok, I listened to it on my iPod. It helped me not only understand my fiancée better, but it helped me understand more about myself. There were things I know about myself, but after hearing it, it game me a better understanding about myself. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone in a relationship or thinking about getting into a relationship.
It is not designed to to be a fix, it is designed to help you know yourself and share with your partner how you feel love the most.
