We recently got a dog from a local spca, and she had a wound on her knee,we were told that she was found in this condition. we were given an antibiotic and salve to treat the wound, but it didnt help at all. We took the dog to a vet only to learn that that it had already had surgery on that knee, and that it was the incision that had become infected. Now I have a huge vet bill and i need to find out if there is an organization that could help me pay this bill. The vet wont let our dog come home until the bill is paid, and my kids are wondering where their pet is. Please help me get my sons pet back home.

I have also tried to get this vet to take payments, yet he refuses. It has to be paid in full before we can get her back!

What a jerk vet. See if you can't arrange payments for him. There is pet insurance, but that won't cover existing problems such as this- you should talk to the shelter where the dog came from.

PS-- time to change vets!! I have never, ever heard of a vet withholding a pet because of a bill.

Yes when you get him paid off ,find another vet cause this one is an a--hole!!!! Most vets will give you a payment schedule . Do you have any petsmarts around you ? If so they have animal clinics called Banfield animal hospitals. They are good vets too. I hope things work out for you . good luck .
