Can someone tel me which uses more power a light bulb or a neon tube of the same wattage.
The reason I ask is,the cooker lamp is a 40 watt bulb and the ceiling light neon lamp is a single tube ??

If the wattage is the same, they will have the same power consumption. Wattage is a unit of power and doesn't have anything to do with the amount of light or heat produced.

However

The light bulb uses more power to produce the same amount of light. Light bulbs are not that efficient. They operate by heating a piece of wire until it becomes white hot. The heat is a waste. A Neon tube uses electrical current to excite the electrons on the Neon atom. This process doesn't create much heat.

A tube in a ceiling light is almost certainly a flourescent, not neon.

Neon produces an orange glow. It really isn't suitable for room lighting.

Power consumption is measured in Watts ... so two bulbs of 40w use the same power ...
