My friend thinks AIDs is an type of cancer. I keep stating to him that because the immune system is weak that they have the possible of developing certain cancers such as lymphoma. But he insist that AIDs patient automatically have cancer. We need a third opinion so can someone plz end our little debate.

You are right and your friend is wrong. AIDs patients can be more succeptible to certain cancers such as Kaposi's sarcoma and lymphomas. But AIDs itself is not a cancer and many AIDs patients don't develop cancer either.

AIDS is the end stage of a viral illness - infection with the Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

It is not caused by cancer. There IS, however, a cancer associated with it - the Kaposi Sarcoma, a particular form of cancer that only occurs where the immune system does not function normally.

Your friend is wrong. Your explanation is accurate, it leaves people vulnerable to cancers. AIDS is a virus, just as flu. The damage of the virus is to destroy the immune system.

no i dont think its cancer if you r friend is suffering from hiv then thats a different story but no its not cancer
