In my box I am supposed to put anything that could improve the handwriting of the boys in my class (they are Year 6 - 10-11 years old). I have had some ideas, e.g. old key, treasure map to help them imagine being pirates), but I was wondering if anyone out there had any other good ideas (it could be writing about fiction, or non-fiction). Cheers!

it depends what they are interested in. my guess, boys that age are into football? why not have them create their own cards for a game like top trumps, they could find photos of their favourite players and then hand write key details about them. their handwriting will have to be neat so they can read it, and their reward can be playing with the cards that they create. win win both ways! they could also create their own players or maybe have their own pictures onto the cards and write details about themselves and include them with the other footballers?
other ideas...mmm...maybe staying with the football theme and getting photo stills from different matches and they have to think of and write a caption under the picture, each week choose the best caption and that boy gets some sort of reward, but only if his handwriting is neat?
the top trumps idea could use other themes too, you could maybe change the theme every half term too to keep it fresh?
you've got me thinking now! i want to be a teacher!
well hope this helps you. good luck, hope you find something.

copying a paragraph from book/ magazine and prize for the best handwriting judged by the teachers.

how about giving them all pencils instead of pens that way they could erase mistakes and keep handwriting neat

could play a game using words and sentences like they have to fill in the blanks but do it in teams and they get points for the neatest and most readable without spelling mistakes

They could write out a line " i must write neatly" 1000 times.
that will get them to write neatly.

hope these help i dont know if im thinking about what you need, let me know and good luck.xx

How about creating a class news letter? Maybe publish it at the end of the week, giving each child a role to play every week from now til Easter?

how are you able to've perfection, once you're merely getting to grasp something. is this printing or cursive. in spite of if it is cursive, i might say her muscle groups merely are not waiting. Cursive writing exchange into constantly taught the 2nd 0.5 of 2nd grade. in spite of if it is printing it is merely Nov. and that i might say the instructor is calling too plenty. Have her hint and decrease. Do an internet seek on nice motor activities? Do you undergo in ideas the fat crayons and the fat pencils used in college once you have been little????? the explanation exchange into by way of fact babies did not have muscle administration. in keeping with possibility get a not out of your youngster's Dr. to get the instructor to place off. i think of colleges are pushing little ones to quickly and perfection in first grade isn't mandatory. The greater you push the greater pissed off you and her exchange into. Having been a instructor, I particular choose i could see her paintings. in case you're happy together with her paintings you as a ensure can ask the instructor to returned off, if that doesn't paintings pass to the critical. whilst i exchange into in 8th grade I had a nun who saved making me rewrite issues(i'm a lefty). I have been given so pissed off I went the critical in tears and instructed her i could not do it to any extent further useful and to tell her to end making me do it over and he or she did.

Have them start a journal about pretend adventures that they have. They can share their entries later...if they want to.
