Leviticus 12:1-5 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If a woman has conceived, and borne a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her customary impurity she shall be unclean. 3 And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. 4 She shall then continue in the blood of her purification thirty-three days. She shall not touch any hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary until the days of her purification are fulfilled.
5 ‘But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her customary impurity, and she shall continue in the blood of her purification sixty-six days. (doubly unclean)

The bible was written by men in a society were women had few rights so how can it be anything but UNFAIR?

The point Old Testament = Old Laws is a very good one. However, you have to wonder what the bible means by "unclean?" It could simply be restriction on when to have sex with a woman who has given birth to a child. That's the problem with the bible it is open to many interpretations. Its text can be used to prove everything from gay people are “unclean” to the Sun revolves around the Earth. The first is based on the phrase “Thou shall not throw thy seed on unfertile ground” and the second is based on the phrase “The Earth is the firmament and unmovable.” One only has to live through an earthquake to see that phrase has some major problems with it.

The biggest problem with the bible is that it is a dead document; it was last revised by King James in the 13th century. When man discovers new facts they are not included in the bible, and inconvenient ones (like evolution) are simply ignored. The scientific method is a flexible way of thinking that always makes room for new ideas, even ones that sound zany. For a long time chicken soup helping a cold was an old wives tale. Until someone thought to actually test it and to examine the soup; where they found active proteins in the chicken broth that do help with a stuffy nose.

yneos or yes and no. The early cleanness laws show a decided bias against the mysterious and thus believed by many, dangerous powers of sex. The woman held the awesome power of "creation."
Israel slowly led that period of history out of the swamp. There are several cultic rituals/acts which women actually led. All the more impressive as they were not pagan fertility prostitutions.
By the time of Jesus, even though almost entirely illiterate, had made such a profound impact that the writers state several times
a) WOMEN provided for the needs of Jesus - nowhere is it stated that the disciples did.
b) WOMEN were the ones brave enough to stay by the cross. This is particularly pointed out while only 1 disciple is specifically mentioned as having done so.
c) WOMEN followed the body to the grave and marked the location. Disciples - hiding, probably literally, but hiding nonetheless.
d) WOMEN prepared the funeral rites.
e) A Woman was the first to see the resurrected Jesus. Women were the first to here the news from and the only o nes to see angels. Women bore the first witness. And in a less than pleasant light, women were the first ones scorned for believing. A woman was the first one told of the Ascension.
f) The early church records women as full participants from the very first.
Given the chauvinism and the real inequity which existed at the time, it is extraordinary that the NT would include such feminine material in gospels/letters meant for men. Astounding!

It all depends on what the culture was when certain books of the Bible were written (not all books of the Bible were written at one time). An example when Christ had came the Christian Church was established and The New Testament became the main scriptures for the Christian. The Old Testament scriptures were added to the canon of Scriptures for the Church. Jesus was seen more open to women as clearly seen in the Gospel of Luke. Today some denominations are ordaining women as Bishops, Priest and Deacons which at one time was not allowed by the Church. It can depend on how you view women today compared to past generations. The question could be asked: Is Today's Church willing to include women in roles of ministry ?which if not, could be seen especially by some women and men as being not fair.

This chapter of Leviticus has nothing to do with being fair or unfair to women. This was the ceremony that they had to go through after a child was born for the reason, that when a child is born that child is born with an inherited sinful nature. This occurred with Adam and Eve, the fall of mankind. When a women had a child that child was born a sinner, and still is today. We are all born as sinners, in need of a Savior. Christ is the one whose sacrifice of His life makes us righteous. We are not righteous at birth.

The question of "straightforward to women" and referencing Scripture speaks fairly a good fact of the lack of understanding of the question. to respond to the question of "straightforward to women"; it is an emphatic specific. Scripture additionally treats women distinctive than guy, not better; not worse yet distinctive. And to easy up the particular referenced Scriptural quotation, it fairly is fairly certainly one of the three varieties of rules interior the 5 Books and relatively this regulation applies purely to women. 3 varieties of rules are: Civil - (eg do not homicide; do not thieve) that which guy could understand and improve had the 5 Books not been given by way of Moses to the youngsters of Israel, Testimonials - (Sabbath) that as quickly as defined are logical; and Supra-rational - (women's impurity, prohibition of eating pink meat) that are previous human information and which should not be puzzled as to conform for they are G-d's rules.

yes.

Ephesians 5:28-33 says it all:  In this way husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself, 29 for no man ever hated his own flesh; but he feeds and cherishes it, as the Christ also does the congregation, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave [his] father and [his] mother and he will stick to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This sacred secret is great. Now I am speaking with respect to Christ and the congregation. 33 Nevertheless, also, let each one of YOU individually so love his wife as he does himself; on the other hand, the wife should have deep respect for her husband.

hmmm

You are making a large speculative leap here. How is saying that you are "unclean" for a period of time being unfair to women? If you knew more about Jewish culture you would know that while she is pregnant she is very highly regarded by the faith... Not so much for the man...

No it is not.

It was written by men who wanted women to be cut out from the church.

Jesus actually wanted to leave the church to Mary.
Paul just turned Isreal on her to drive her out and took the church for himself.
