Is the same as a sugar pill "does nothing", and paxil would be better for me. That dosen't seem right at all because iv'e been suffering from an anxiety problem for so long, and Im hearing horror stores about Paxil but none about lexapro. All i want to do is get my life back without being worried about stupid bull ****. I never used to have panic attacks but now that I do I cant do anything anymore. I HATE ANXIETY!!!

I take Lexapro, and it has worked well for me. But, everyone is different.

The only things I do not like is: first of all it took away my non-stop energy, but that is not all bad because I was so anxious and could not sit still before, but now it's kind of the other extreme.

And second: I did not take Lexapro for about a month, because I could not afford it. For that month, I felt extremely tired and all I did was sleep, was super stressed, and my Dr. said it was because I just stopped taking the Lexapro and it was not good for my body. So, I'm hooked????

Anyway, if you have a fear of taking Paxil, then talk to your Dr. about it. And, no matter what you end up taking, if it does not feel like it is working for you, then go back to the Dr. and see if he'll let you try something else.

I have been taking Lexapro for the past 8 months and it saved my life. I asked my psyc. why she prescribed Lexapro instead of one of the other SSRIs. She said because this was the first time that I was taking an SSRI and she wanted to start me on Lexapro first to see if it would work. If it hadn't worked, she said she would prescribe something else. I don't know what the difference is in the different brands so at this point I'm trusting my psyc. and hope she knows what she's talking about. As far as Lexapro being a sugar pill, that's not true of course because it's a prescription drug. I suspect that maybe your doc. might think that you need something stronger. As far as side effects from Lexapro, what I don't like is that it took away my umph. I just feel blah. I take it at night now instead of in the morning and that helps but I feel like I've had a lobotomy.

Im not sure why your doctor would say this, Lexapro is popular with people who have anxiety. Paxil worked great for me for about 6 years then everything got screwed up because I tried to go off it, if I wouldn't have messed around I would probably still be on it and liking it. If I were you I would give Lexapro a try, and if it doesn't work, just try a different kind.

I've been on Lexapro for approximately nine months and I've misplaced approximately 10-15 lbs. I take 30mg. I do not know if the therapy by myself brought on the burden loss or the truth that I'm much less depressed and extra lively now. Anyway, I undoubtedly didn't attain any weight. BTW, I'm additionally on Klonopin and Abilify (if that concerns)

I take Lexapro and I really like it. I tried about three different kinds, don't remember which, before I found Lexapro and it really works for me, but you see, that's just the thing. Each of us has a different body and chemical makeup and each one of us needs something different. That's why there are so many different names of anti-anxiety, anti-depressant medications out there. Just keep trying what your doctor suggests and then keep going back and telling him why you don't like it until you both can agree on something that works for you. But the biggest thing is, don't be afraid to tell your doctor you don't like it and it doesn't work for you. It's your body and your life and it's up to you to take charge of it.

i took Lexapro for about 2 yrs. and it worked wonders! sugar is actually a depressant and helps calm you down, you think you're hyper when you have a lot but what it's actually doin is eating at your energy. and when you take Lexapro it helps get rid of that energy thats...well, not good. so yeah i'd actually say i like Lexapro better but it's up to your doctor about what you take because he's the professional.

I have a horror story about Lexapro. I took Lexapro for over THREE years and tried and tried to get off of it...every time I tried, I would have horrible anxiety and even slit my wrists twice. I've been off of it for 6 months now and feel better than ever. When I first got on it, I thought it was a miracle drug and it turned out to be my worst nightmare. It caused me to have extreme manic depression and I ended up in ambulances, emergency rooms, and praying for DEATH every night. Stop it right now and brace yourself for withdrawls. Get some xanax or valium to curb you for a couple months. Don't kill youself, dude, its not your fault!!
