Not really! If your tom cat is not a mean cat and don't seem to bother the female...he is no threat to her or the kittens! The only way I have had a male cat to kill kittens if it was a stray cat passed through and they will kill the kittens! But if this male your talking about has been around the female they should be safe! The female will protect the kittens...so if she starts fighting the male then you might have to remove him away from her! I have 5 cats of my own! Hope this helps!

Yes. The male cat will not only make the female cat jumpy and nervous when she gives birth and later on, but there is a very real possibility he will kill the kittens.

Yes, if you want the kittens to live.

The first thing you do though, right now, today, before your cat has the kittens, is to get the male cat neutered!

Then you deal with the kittens.

As soon as the kittens are weaned, you get the female cat spayed!!!

Well, they SHOULD have been separated before (or FIXED) and you wouldn't have this problem. But... to answer your question... it depends. Some males (especially toms) will injure the kittens... however many males (especially neutered ones) LOVE kittens. I've seen males "nurse" kittens (obviously they dont get milk, but they get comfort), clean kittens, etc. It just depends on your cat's temperament. I'd just watch them closely. If it seems to stress mom out, get him out of there. She'll tell you if she wants him there or not.

But please... GET them fixed! There's FAR too many homeless cats and kittens in this world.

Yes! The mama cat will get very possesive with her babies and in her mind for a while the father is a huge threat. You should put the mama cat and her babies in a room together, alone. It gives them time to bond which they do want. Good Luck with the Kittens! :)

Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.

STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

No, in fact the male if left alone, has his way of helping to raise the kittens. I loved watching my male around his kittens.

you don't have to but it would be less stressful for mom and safer for the babies if you do

After a few days you could try to let dad near them but watch them if mom doesn't want him there you will know it

also watch dad's reaction to the babies

use your best judgment at that point

this depends on the male, usually the queen is strict and protective with her young, but if thed tom is keen, he might snatch one of the kittens and chew its head off ,and do this to all of them when shes not looking, so when they'r all gone, she will breed to him again." no kidding"
