I have owned and trained Rottweiler's for over 17 years. On your question of " how they act around kids" is how you raise them and bring them up. I have had two son grow up with monster sizes Rotts and I had no problems. The reason that the media reports attacks of Pitt Bulls and Rotts are they have deemed them evil. In Calif. the dog with the most attacks on children and adults are Golden Retrievers and Labs. Why they are a popular breed so there are more of the. Back to the Rotts. male and females are good for kids if they are brought up together but also with any dog you never leave them alone with them. Males start to get Territorial at age four and get stubborn when they get older. Females are easy to train and are more loyal ( not saying males aren't but female are more so ). Rotts can weigh up to 120 to as big as 180 lbs. . Break down on pressure per square inch on a bite. German Shepperd's bite is 800 p.s.i . Pit bulls are 1000 p.s.i . Rotts are 1200 p.s.i and Timber wolves are 1500 p.s.i . If you would like more info just mail me.

i'm a genuine believer in genetics enjoying a great place in temperament. All canines could properly be skilled, socialized, and taught applicable manners. in spite of if, no longer all canines turns into 'applicable'. some breeds and guy or woman canines are greater services to aggression issues, barking, retrieving, loving/hating water, aloofness, protectiveness, reactivity and so on. It relies upon on the suggestions-set and stability of the canines's genealogy besides because of the fact the guy who socializes the canines for the duration of the 1st 4 months of it incredibly is life (the main severe era). you won't be in a position to make a lace curtain out of a pig's ear. comparable rule applies to canines. each and every of the breeds are different- you are able to mould that temperament right into a friendlier one- yet a Rottweiler remains a Rottweiler. A German Shepherd remains a Shepherd. A Labrador Retriever remains a Labrador Retriever. the objective of starting to be different canines breeds in the international is to have canines who can carry out different jobs and characteristic different temperaments. That way, human beings can %. the breed that suitable suits their way of life for the suitable adventure. there are a number of canines breeders available who're striving to get greater versatile, friendly specimens. so a protracted way, many have been powerful.

A strong willed dog. Do not listen to nonsense about how you can just shape a dog any way you want with training. Dogs have there own agendas. Rotts need a lot of exercise and are very active puppies. Choose carefully and if possible, get an expert opinion on the dog you choose.

I think it depends on how it's raised so if your nice to it and take care of it; it should be fine. But it also depends on the dog, try and find one that has a nice attitude. And i think i have heard somewhere that rottweilers make good family pets and that for the most part like kids! Hope this helps

It depends on how you raise them... they can be very sweet pets. But I think they do even better if you have them spayed or neutered at the appropriate age. It takes the edge off their aggressive temperament.
