why are so many 'fundamentalist' Christians opposed to marijuana use?
if ganja is a gift from God why am I considered a sinner for using it?
does this seem hypocritical to anyone else?

I am TOTALLY agreeing with you here. Alcohol is man made, yes god put the ingredients on earth, but man made it, and it is legal. Alcohol causes more deaths in a year than marijuana ever will. In fact, pot itself does not cause death, period. You can't overdose on it! You cannot possibly intake enough marijuana to die from its use. Smoking marijuana is the only thing that is bad for you, as the tar and other ingredients in the smoke can be cancer causing. However there are other ways of using it, including making tea and baking it into things (brownies anyone?)
The law allows us to kill ourselves with tobacco and alcohol, when marijuana, in essance is much better for us than both.

It was actually a main ingredient in the annointment oil God commanded Moses to make, and which was later used to baptise Jesus by John the Baptist. It's properties can be absorbed by the skin.
Kaneh-bosm was wrongly translated as Calamus, a common marsh plant. It was later found to mean Cannabis.
Anthropologists agree cannabis was a common insence used amoung the Jewish people of the time.

Anything that can cause you to lose control of your own common sense is not the best thing for you. You could end up in a pile of trouble. Just because your mom bakes a cake doesn't mean you should sit and eat the whole thing, you have a piece. Marijuana, appears to help people with MS and to help calm symptoms after chemotherapy. Perhaps that is what God had in mind to help the sick and not for some fool to become a pot head for fun.

You are not a sinner because you smoke pot. You are a sinner because you sin. We are all sinners. You can smoke pot if you want to, but you will pay the consequences for it. It is harmful to your brain and body, and it kills your ambition. Those are just a few reasons. Gods "laws", if you will, are to protect us When you break his laws, (except for worshiping false gods), you are not hurting him, you are hurting yourself. He doesn't want his children hurting themselves. He also mentions "gluttony as a sin", but when you over eat, you are not hurting him, you are hurting yourself, plus you are destroying your body, which houses the spirit of God if you are "born of God", (another words, born again). When you have rules for your children, like, "no running in the house, or don't run out into the street", you make those rules for the sake of your children.

A point of theology: You would not/are not considered a sinner for smoking it. The sin is in the rebellion against authority. The difference is subtle but real. You are arrested for breaking the law, not the act.

I have never read in the bible where it is a sin to smoke,although the bible states we are to take care of our bodies since they are not ours but belongs to Him God is love and wants us happy all time,there is no substitute for our happiness in Him why would we think that ganja is a gift from God the devil is the deceiver and master of confusion in our lives

Not everything that is grown was grown for us to eat, drink juices from, or smoke. The spectacular angel trumpet plant has been outlawed in the state of Fla, not because of it's aparent and visible beauty of the flower, but because of the idiots who boil the flower and drink the water from it and get high and die from it. Same goes for the marajuana plant. It is a beautiful striking plant.that has been abuse and used in a manner of which God never intended.
And just for your information. There only two different kind of Chrisitans. Those who are one and obey God's laws, and those who claim to be one and are only fooling themselves. God knows the difference.

Self discipline. God also made the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil in the Garden of Eden and told Adam & Eve not to eat of it. We all know the outcome of that story, right? We're not in the garden anymore. God also made many poisonous plants & berries too. Why don't you eat those?
