donate blood If you lived in UK countries for 3 months or longer from 1980 thru 1996? Did you know you are ineligible to donate due to possible exposure to Mad Cow disease? This is an FDA regulation throughout the U.S

Only those who have tried to donate blood. Don't worry, the American Red Cross is very good at telling people whether or not they are eligible.

The reason they gave me is because they don't have a blood test for Mad Cow yet, so they can't detect it.

That is what I have been told. They refuse to take my blood because I lived in England in between 78 and 82. I left that out one day and told them that I lived in Turkey between 88 and 92. They said I still could not give blood because of mad cows. I guess it could be a racist thing against Military people who serve in Europe.

It is not just England. Serving in anywhere in Europe in the 1980's disqualified you for about 10 years.

I couldn't give blood for 10 years for taking anti-malaria pills in the navy.
