Am I the only one who eats this--

I take a regular, raw hamburger patty -OR- ground chuck/beef
and tear it apart, so it's crumbled (into many parts)

I put it in a pan and cook it on the stove, until done, I don't add anything, I just cook it like that.

AM I THE ONLY WHO LOVES EATING THIS!? Any time I have it, everyone thinks it's weird! (I hate the traditional hamburger, unless from a professional restaurant--fastfood) Try for yourself, it's amazing!

I add salt and pepper sometimes, and also mustard sometimes

No! You aren't the only one. There is a small franchise chain in Iowa that serves the following:

http://www.maid-rite.com/aboutus/unique.shtml

It's been 50 years since I've had a Maid-Rite, and it remains the best "hamburger" I've ever had. They have 3 butchers working full time in the basement of one of their stores. They buy hind quarters of beef, and the butchers de-bone, trim the fat, and remove any silver skin. The meat is then ground and distributed to their outlets. Each Maid-Rite is made with 1/3 of a pound of meat, and includes grilled onions. It is served in a plastic basket with a paper liner, and they give you a spoon to scoop up the meat that falls out of the sandwich. You add your choice of condiments: salt, pepper, ketchup, and/or mustard.

You can't duplicate this at home. Hamburger is made from beef scraps. The hind quarter is the source of the tastiest beef roasts. If you wanted to try making it at home, you could buy a roast and grind it up.

nothing wrong with it at all but it better with better quality meat and the funny thing about Hamburger prices is the 30% fat to lean is most often the same price as the 7% fat to lean if you adjust the price by weight after it cooked however for hamburger the best is about 10-15% fat as their is a lot of flavor in the fat which goes into the meat while cooking

I suppose there is nothing wrong with that. It is an interesting way to cook, serve, and eat a hamburger patty. lol I usually like my hamburgers with the cheese, bun, etc....but that's just me.

Hey Ella,

For each her own.

You are probably buying a very top shelf or high grade ground meat. I buy whatever is leanest.

I add seasonings (chili powder, Penzey's spices) and vegetables (diced onions and tomatoes) to my burgers before I form the patties.
