Made to order Caesar dressing does, yes. Since bottled dressing has preservatives in it I wouldn't worry.

And, made to order Caesar dressing, made in a restaurant with their egg, well, I don't know how likely that would be.

First, the egg used to make a Caesar dressing isn't raw, it's coddled (cooked for one minute in boiling water-that's one third of the time for a soft boiled egg). Second, there is no hiding the smell of a bad egg and the server would have smelled it. The egg is coddled in the kitchen and placed on the prep cart before being presented to the table. Some people do mistake this soft boiled egg for a raw one as it is underdone.

I feel for you. Egg stomache aches can last for hours. It will put you off eggs for a while, no doubt.

Caesar dressing is just too great to pass on for the rest of your life, don't let one bad experience be a reason to deprive yourself.

PS REAL Caesar dressing contains zero mayonaise. Google Caesar Cardeno for the original and only authentic Caesar dressing.

Yes, it is true that real Caesar dressing has raw eggs in it, but most these days do not. Often they either substitute other ingredients, slightly temper or heat the eggs, or use pasteurized eggs. But the dressing you ate may have had raw eggs in it -- call the restaurant & ask them if you really want to know.

funny because i just made caesar dressing myself! But I never put in the eggs. Here's a simple recipe i learned in france if you like caeser that is really good and a little less fattening too:
2 tablespoons of anchovy paste
the juice of one large lemon
1 garlic clove minced
olive oil
salt, pepper
Sorry if the proportions seem odd - i always eye it! Good luck!

If it is made properly, yes, it has raw eggs. At any decent restaurant they will make their own ceasar dressing. You can ask if they make it from raw eggs if you'd like. Some don't (but in those cases I rarely will get the salad because egg is the most predominant element to the dressing).

Traditionally it has anchovies in it too, which I really like. However, enough people don't like anchovies that some restaurants will not include them.

Caesar Salad Dressing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yields: 2 cups

Ingredients:

1 egg, coddled
Coddled eggs are made by very briefly immersing an egg in the shell in boiling water (to cook in water just below the boiling point) to slightly cook or coddle them.

The best eggs for coddling are the freshest eggs you can find. If eggs are more than a week old, the whites thin out. whites of fresh eggs will gather compactly around the yolk, making a rounder, neater shape.

3/4 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup freshly grated Locatelli cheese (Parmesan or Romano will do)
1/2 tsp. anchovy paste (optional)
With electric mixer at high speed, beat egg till foamy. Slowly add olive until a mayonnaise forms. Whisk in remaining ingredients. Enough dressing for 2 medium heads romaine lettuce. Toss with your favorite croutons.

First, Cesar salad DOES NOT HAVE ANCHOVIES IN IT. It has Worcestershire sauce which HAS anchovies as an ingredient.
Second, traditional Cesar dressing contains CODDLED eggs, basically a REALLY soft boiled egg.
