Technically, yes (in that they're both sugar - but that's where the similarity ends). However, Confectioner's sugar is a finer ground variety so it is lighter and will whip things up into a thicker fluffier consistency. If the recipe calls for CS, go to the store and buy some; substituting regular granulated will only end in disaster or at the very least disappointment.

confections sugar and powdered sugar are basically the same thing. Powdered sugar has corn starch added to prevent clumping. Confectioners sugar comes in #X designations such as 10X and 6X. the larger the number the finer the the grind. For frosting use the confectioners, it can also be found as icing sugar.

Nope. Confectioners sugar is not the same thing as regular sugar. It is the same thing as powdered sugar. Unfortunately regular sugar will probably not work for your frosting, it won't fully dissolve into a smooth fluffy frosting. If possible, run to the store & buy a box of powdered sugar -- it will work out much better.

The very fine ground confectioner's sugar is the same chemically, but it does work the same physically. The frosting is a mixture of the shortening or butter and the granules of sugar. They do not dissolve. They stay the same size in the frosting. If you use the regular sugar (granulated) the frosting will be as sweet but gritty in texture.

No frosting will be a failure with regular sugar, confectioners is a powder sugar (imagine regular sugar ground in a coffee grinder) this consistence allows it to blend etc, get some at store for your recipe would be my advice

Confectioners sugar is a mixture of regular sugar and corn starch. I don't know what the proportions are so you are better off going to the store and buying confectioners sugar. i will check if there is a recipe for homemade CS on the web and will come back to edit if there is.

no raw sugar is brown and not in filtered grains that get filtered through a sugar jar. Raw is said to be better as is brown sugar, oprah lost her weight because she took out the white, why? It's bleached food
