This is for instructors or anyone that knows this please. Do Tae Kwon Do schools have sleep overs? I know of a child that has a broken arm, and was told that he broke it at a Tae Kwon Do sleepover. This happened to him on the holiday weekend. It sounds a little fishy to me that a TWD school would have a sleepover, especially on a holiday. Thanks! :o)

Many of the Karate Schools today participate in all kinds of activities, camping, picnics and "sleepovers", etc.
This will do a handful of things for the School/Assoc., families together, attract more students and all of witch brings in more money.

They may call it a sleepover but really, who goes to sleep? Most of the younger kids run around all night and do just about what they want, play games, sparring, etc. And sparring without supervision and pads could have led to someone getting hurt.

My son is a BSA/OA member and he tells us what goes on at these events and most of the time we don't like what we here. At the last event an OA lock-in my son's $300 CCM Hockey skates where stolen and reported immediately to his Scout Master. Nothing was done on that Saturday or Sunday, I was F..N..P I S S E D OFF! to say the least.
Now our son wants to quit Boy Scouts.

I remember when i did tae kwon do that we had sleepovers once or twice a year. It was to celebrate the tournaments that the school won in or to celebrate level promotion within the school. It was very wild at these things. Then again this was like 6 years ago.

Many schools have sleepovers, usually just for the younger students, some call it a mini camp. Usually not on a holiday weekend because families are usually together then.

well i think this is a really stupid question to ask here.if there was any doubt as to the right or wrong of the incident it should have been investigated properly in the first place.hows is coming on here asking helping the child?or making sure there was or wasn't an abuse problem?whats fishy about social interaction within a club whether it be tkd or football?you need to grow a brain my friend instead of coming on here insinuating such a thing.
kids and accidents attract each other.

It is likely that the instructor did have a sleepover over the holiday weekend and if they did then the disturbing news would be worse than if your child lied to you and actually broke his arm spending it at a friends house.

If it was a TKD sleepover, it is likely that your tkd teacher was playing a game of "naughty altarboy-priest" with your child and your child broke his arm trying to escape.

and what are his parents doing about it? break the instructors arm! or call the police, child abuse is going on.

or is it a case of parents that dont care?
seriously, regardless of the fine print avoiding prosecution, no child should get a broken arm at a training event. thats bad practice.

TKD strikes again. perhaps he was having a fight with the black belts, 5 adults on 1 kid. that would make sense then, equal ability.

My dojo does a few overnight trips a year. We go rock climbing or camping or other outdoor activity.

Accidents happen in martial arts, that's all there is too it. There are some risks involved. Most the owners are very careful but there are things nobody can prevent or plan for.

Yeah our class has all kinds of get togethers, camping trips, and movie nights mostly for the kids to have fun. So yeah if the school allows them then yeah they'll do it every once in awhile.

I'm sorry to hear about the boy getting his arm broken, but you know how rowdy kids can get.

At my karate studio that I go to we have sleepovers, but its mainly for the little kids. It does get kind of rowdy, so him breaking his arm sounds reasonable.
