There were more than nine. Firstly, he empowered Moses with the ability to perform magic. This allowed Moses to compete with the Pharaoh's priests and turn his staff into a serpent. When this didn't work, he sent the ten plagues. Look at the bible for their correct order but as memory serves they involved the Nile turning red as blood, boils, locusts, flies, darkness, fire from above, frogs, darkness, mice (?) and finally, the Angel of Death to kill the firstborns. Lastly he empowered Moses to part the Red Sea, drowning Pharaoh's troops. I'd check wikipedia for more accurate data. I'm basing this on memory.

Allow me to quote from Exodus 10:1...

And the LORD said unto Moses, "Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him."

From this verse it is quite clear that the plagues God visited on Egypt in the Bible were NOT for the purpose of convincing the Pharaoh to let the slaves go. In fact, according to the Bible, God had to specifically STOP the Pharaoh from letting them go too early!

Water into blood, gnats, frogs and gadflies, dark and hail like fire. locust, pestilence and boils. Death of the first born was the last. That way it would touch every family.
Pharoah threw all the hebrew babies in the nile to drown.
Pay back time.

Kill all the inocent first borns who had nothing to do with it. It's not like they get to elect their pharaoh. God is harsh and by no means just or fair.

Your literary God hardened Pharoah's heart, so everything he did seems to be for inspiring the Jews, not convincing anyone.

Besides, the whole story of the enslavement of Irael has been debunked. (1)
