it says would you like to format now.if i press yes another box pops an says all documents will be erased ,does any one know what to do

The floppy has one or more bad sectors on it and it's not letting the drive read it. It isn't good news, because I'm afraid the pictures are gone. You can try it in another computer that has a floppy drive and see if that drive will read it. If it doesn't then the contents of the disk are not going to be recoverable.

try reading it off of someone else's floppy drive and then email the pictures to yourself. The floppy drive may be bad or it may not be able to read the existing disk format or it may not be capable of reading 1.2 floppies.

If you are getting that message, then the files are already gone. That usually means the floppy has gone bad. Running Scandisk on it may help.
