You know there is a lot of controversy on antibiotics now and any time you can do without giving them to children the better off they are but of course they are very important in a lot of situations.
try to use a small bulb syringe to get the phlegm out,if it is yellow or green it does indicate infection which should be seen by a Dr. or health official, sometimes it can be a results of inner ear trouble and I learned first hand not to leave that unattended by medical help.

Yes,you can do wothout the antibiotics(they probably wouldn't help a cold anyway).Keep a humidifier on and suck out the mucous with one of those bulb things, maybe give her some baby tylenol.Just be sure to keep an eye on it so it does not become something more serious(like pneumonia)in which case she would need to see a doctor.Otherwise, she will probably be fine in a week or so.

Antibiotics are for infections and will not help if it is just a cold. Use a humidifier and put saline nose drops in her nose. (this will loosen it up and make her sneeze a lot, getting the mucous out)
You might want to schedule a Dr. appointment to rule out an infection like bronchitis though.

This is what my Dr. had me do for my 1 month old. IT REALLY WORKS!!!!

I'm sorry your baby is sick! :( that ALWAYS sucks!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Antibiotics will do nothing for a Cold.

1. Room humidifier warm probably better than cold. But anything will help.
2. Child decongestent like Robitusin. DM.

No, please take her to the doctor before it becomes broncitus or pneomonia.. besides she needs some medication to relive her of the symptoms. Imaging not being able to breath at night..? She probably has a tummy ache and sore throat with all the drainage. Please take her to doctor today, let them know it is an emergency and they will be able to take her. Dont allow this poor child to suffer.

Well, it depends on whether it is viral or bacterial and only your doctor can determine that. If it is viral, the only thing that you can do is to help treat the symptoms. If it is bacterial the doctor may prescribe antiobiotics.
